1. Ice-cream from Di Meo’s in Whitley Bay.
If you’re ever up in the North East I urge you to take a trip to Whitley Bay to try Di Meo’s ice-cream – it is so so good!
They make their ice-cream by hand using a secret family recipe which has won various national awards, and was even voted the best ice-cream in the UK. Well worth a visit!
I chose the battenburg ice-cream this time, and it was beautifully smooth, studded with pieces of battenburg cake, and with a heady, sweet almond flavour. Heavenly! Graeme had the pistachio ice-cream, and I’m not exaggerating when I say it was the best pistachio ice-cream I have ever tasted!

2. Sticking with food, this pear and butterscotch cake that I baked for Graeme’s birthday was so delicious, and super simple to bake!

3. Wicked

I’ve wanted to see this for around ten years, and I was so excited when I found out it was coming to the North East that I snapped up tickets as soon as they went on sale last February. So thrilled that we finally got to see it – it’s such a fantastic show and experience!
I would definitely recommend seeing it. It’s such a feel-good spectacle, and the sets and costumes are amazing. Graeme really isn’t into musicals, but even he enjoyed it! I would so love to see it again one day.
They’re in Sunderland for another week before heading to Wales and then Manchester, and I think tickets are selling out fast, so if you fancy it then you’ll have to be quick!

4. My avocado stone is finally putting up a little shoot!

It’s taken a few failed attempts, but this little stone seems to be doing well! Fingers crossed it’ll carry on growing throughout the autumn/winter.  I might have to move it out of our north-facing kitchen to give it a little more light and warmth to grow.

5. This colour combination for my two-shade Strathendrick, which I’m secretly calling my “grown-up Gryffindor” sweater.
